The congregation of the Servants of Jesus and Mary grew out of the work of the Catholic Scout Association of Europe (Foundation). It was founded in 1988 by Fr. Andreas Hönisch (The founder: Fr. Andreas Hönisch). The community spent its first years in an old Capuchin Monastery in Allgäu, Germany (The first years).

In 1994, the SJM was recognised by Rome as a Congregation of Pontifical Right (Papal approval). Subsequently, the congregation continued to grow, until its field of work expanded beyond the borders of Germany (Growth outside of Germany). Today, the SJM works in a great variety of areas for the care of souls (Current tasks).
